In West Kendall, a Miami community, police searched frantically for after his mother said they were run off the road and her son was taken. For 24 hours, the search took place throughout southwest Miami Dade until the body of 9-year-old Alejandro Ripley was found in a canal. The boy was severely autistic and said to have been kidnapped by two black men while on the way home from a Home Depot run. The mother, Patricia Ripley, seemed distraught but didn't appear to have her story straight, leading the authorities to wonder if she was telling the truth.
